On 10th March, 1915, 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers of 9 Brigade (which at the time had been temporarily attached to 28th Division from 3rd Division) left their billets at Ouderdom, Belgium and moved into the front line south of Ypres. Two days later on 12th March a mine was blown beneath the trenches held by A Company, followed by an artillery barrage but surprisingly no infantry attack. This allowed 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers to occupy the crater but there were casualties from this incident, one of them being William Myers. |
